Sri Lanka thanks Maldives for the generous support for rebuilding efforts post Ditwah cyclone

News

The bond between Sri Lanka and the Maldives in the aviation sector spans over six decades. On 10 April 1962, for the first time, an Air Ceylon Douglas DC-3 Dakota bearing civil aircraft registration number 4R-ACF departed from Ratmalana International Airport, Colombo, carrying civilian passengers. This historic flight became the first civil aircraft to land on the runway at Hulhulé Airport, heralding greater connectivity and bringing new heights of expectation and prosperity to both Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

The Government and People of Sri Lanka extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to President of the Republic of Maldives His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Dr. Abdullah Khaleel and Foreign Ministry officials, Chairman of Maldives - Sri Lanka Parliamentary Group Hon. AhamedXamyr, team at the Public Service Media and other media outlets, Government and Private institutions, Business community and the General public of Maldives for your generous donation of USD 800,352 for the people of Sri Lanka in this hour of need.
